International cooperation is one of the priorities of the FSBI NMRRC of the Ministry of Health of Russia, contributing to the maintenance of highly qualified specialists, to improving the quality of health care, the development of promising scientific fields in oncology, radiology and urology, the establishment and maintenance of the Center contacts with educational, scientific and medical institutions of CIS and foreign countries, international and national organizations, societies and associations.
The basis of cooperation of FSBI NMRRC of the Ministry of Health of Russia with international organizations, including the World Health Organization (WHO), the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) under the World Health Organization, International Agency for Atomic Energy (IAEA), United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation (UNSCEAR), the Organization of European Cancer Institutes (OECI), etc., is made up of expert activities, communication, participation in events and conferences. Experts of the Center are members of several international organizations of oncologists, radiologists and urologists.
Significant place in the work of the department covers cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO), which is provided by WHO Collaborating Centre for Radiation Epidemiology (CC). The Centre is also part of an international REMPAN network (Medical preparedness for radiological emergencies and assistance, since 1972 REMPAN – Radiological Emergency Medical Preparedness and Assistance Network) and BioDozNet on the basis of the A. Tsyb Medical Radiological Research Center - branch of FSBI NMRRC of the Ministry of Health of Russia, and is the only WHO Collaborating Centre in Russia on the subject.
The priority place in the international cooperation is taken by the cooperation with CIS countries as part of the Association of Oncologic Societies of CIS countries. The chairperson of the Association is the General Director of FSBI NMRRC of the Ministry of Health of Russia, correspondent member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor A.D. Kaprin. Meetings of the Association members are held regularly once in two years in different CIS countries, involving discussions of relevant issues and the newest achievements in oncology area.

An important direction in the development of international relations on scientific subjects, the diagnosis of malignant tumors, combined and complex treatment of cancer is the work on the training of the scientific staff for the CIS countries in the form of training in clinical internship, postgraduate, doctoral, as well as the preparation of the scientific and practical talents at the workplace on the basis of FSBI NMRRC of the Ministry of Health of Russia, for the introduction of the Center experience in the practice of cancer research institutes of the CIS countries.
Cooperation of the Center units with foreign clinics (USA National Cancer Center, Humanitas Clinic, Italy), hospitals, institutes and universities (Universities of Hiroshima, Nagasaki (Japan). Berlin, Hamburg, Heidelberg (Germany), Strasbourg (France) in the field of scientific research develops through the implementation of joint research projects and studies, clinical trials, teaching and training of professionals, conducting conferences and workshops, exchange of experience, exchange of scientific data. Particular attention is paid to work on keeping the Chernobyl tissue bank, together with the London Imperial College (United Kingdom ). The Center's specialists are the members of more than 20 scientific and professional societies, organizations and associations.
The center successfully conducts joint research with foreign universities, scientific and clinical centers, the National Academy of Sciences, teams of scientists of Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Italy, France, Germany, USA, Japan, the Netherlands, Canada, Australia. For several years, the Center is involved in multi-center clinical trials, multicenter randomized study on the efficacy and safety of drugs.
Much attention is paid to the travel of experts at the Center to seminars, international congresses and conferences, such as the IARC sessions, IAEA conference, annual OECI congresses, the European Association of Urology (EAU) congresses. During the last 5 years we have been organized internships for the Center staff in clinics of France, Germany, USA, Sweden, Hungary, the Netherlands and Switzerland.

Every year the international events organized by the Center branches, such as the Congress of the Russian Society oncourology, Interdisciplinary Congress on tumors of the head and neck, the International Youth Scientific School n.a. A.S. Saenko, scientific and practical conference with international participation on the problems of photodynamic therapy, the development of nuclear medicine, etc., are attended by about 200 representatives of CIS and foreign countries and international experts; we organize the reception of delegations and individuals visiting the Center for talks on cooperation, study visits, as well as for training purposes.
